Vatican Christmas Concert 2019 Tickets

By Updated 11 min read

Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets belong to an event that has already happened, so no valid ticket for it can be bought today. If you want Christmas-season music or a Vatican visit now, book a current Vatican Museums ticket through an official or trusted channel.

Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets are no longer something you can buy, because the concert took place in December 2019 and the event is over. If you landed here hoping to get in, my honest advice is to stop searching for a resale ticket and plan a visit you can actually book. I wrote this page to save you from wasted money and to point you to what is real today. The figures below are the latest published as of November 2026.

I should be clear about what this page is. I am not the Vatican ticket office, and I do not sell tickets. I am an independent guide, and I only state facts I can source from official Vatican pages, Wikipedia, Wikidata and public data. That means I will not invent a price or a guest list for a 2019 evening I cannot verify.

Are Vatican Christmas Concert 2019 Tickets Still Available?

Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets are not available at all, since the concert is a past event. A ticket for a finished concert cannot get you into any venue today, whoever is selling it.

This matters because searches for old events attract bad listings. A seller can copy the name of a famous event and post a “ticket” that sounds believable. If a page offers you Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets now, treat it as a red flag, not a bargain.

Here is the simple rule I follow. If an event date is behind us, the ticket is worth nothing as an entry pass. At best it is a keepsake that someone printed, and at worst it is a scam. Your money is better spent on a ticket for a date that is still ahead of you.

How Were 2019 Vatican Christmas Concert Entry Passes Handled?

2019 concert entry passes were handed out in a way I can’t confirm from official sources, so I will not describe the process as fact. The Vatican Museums pages I rely on cover museum tickets and the museums’ own concert programme, not the 2019 Christmas event.

What I can tell you is how the Vatican Museums handle their own music events today. The museums run a programme called Musica ai Musei. The director, Barbara Jatta, describes it as the way the Pope’s Museums “renew, again this year, their contribution to beauty through an interaction of the arts”. The first concert of the 2026 season followed the opening of an El Greco exhibition at the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo, which started on 14 March.

If you want to know about a specific event, my advice is to go to the source. Check the official Vatican Museums events pages, because they are the only place where dates, access rules and any ticket requirements are stated reliably.

Is a Resale Vatican Christmas Concert 2019 Ticket Safe to Buy?

A resale Vatican Christmas concert 2019 ticket is not safe to buy, because the event is over and the ticket cannot be used. Even for live events, the official Vatican Museums site warns about copycat sellers.

The museums’ ticket page says the only official site for buying tickets online is tickets.museivaticani.va. It adds that visitors should beware of scams and of websites with domains similar to the official one, which may charge significantly higher prices. That warning is about museum tickets, but the lesson carries over to any Vatican-related event.

Here is a short checklist I use before paying anyone:

  • Check the date. If the event has passed, do not pay.
  • Check the seller. Official museum tickets come from the museums’ own portal, or from a clearly labeled reseller that tells you what you get.
  • Check the domain. Look for look-alike spellings and extra words in the web address.
  • Check the refund terms. The Vatican Museums state that their tickets cannot be refunded, so a stranger offering easy refunds deserves suspicion.

What Did Vatican Christmas Concert 2019 Tickets Cost?

Vatican Christmas concert 2019 ticket prices are not something I can source, so I will not state one. A number I could not back up would only mislead you.

What I can give you is the current official pricing for a Vatican visit, which is the thing you can actually buy. The Vatican Museums publish these entry prices on their Prices and Tickets page. I converted the euro amounts to dollars at the ECB reference rate of 1.1165 dollars per euro on 2026-11-06, so treat the dollar figures as estimates.

Ticket Official price (EUR) Approx. USD
Full entry, no online booking 20.00 about $22.33
Reduced entry, no online booking 10.00 about $11.17
Reduced entry with Skip the Line booking 10.00 + 5.00 about $16.75 total
Students, no online booking 10.00 about $11.17
Schools, no online booking 5.00 about $5.58
Papal Palace and Secret Garden of Castel Gandolfo, full 12.00 about $13.40

The museums add that the entry ticket covers the Museums and the Sistine Chapel only on the day the ticket is issued. Children below the age of 7 enter free, as do visitors with a certified invalidity of at least 67 percent. Prices change, so confirm them on the official page before you plan.

Where Can You Hear Music at the Vatican Instead?

Music at the Vatican is best found through the Vatican Museums’ own concert programme, Musica ai Musei, which is the best sourced option. I cannot promise a Christmas date, because the official page I have covers the 2026 season opening, not a December schedule.

The official page describes the first 2026 concert as following the inauguration of “El Greco in the mirror” at the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo. That exhibition pairs the Redeemer, painted around 1590-1595, with a small tempera of Saint Francis from around 1570. The museums frame it as a tribute to Pope Leo XIV in the year of the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

For ticket rules at this palace, the Vatican Museums say the Castel Gandolfo ticket includes all current exhibitions, the Garden of the Moor and the Secret Garden, with a guided or self-guided option. The full ticket is EUR 12.00, about $13.40 at the same ECB rate.

If you want a wider look at music events, I keep separate guides. My page on Vatican concert tickets covers concerts in general, and the guide to Vatican City concert tickets looks at the city-state angle. For the most recent season, see what we know about Vatican concert 2025 tickets.

Can You Visit the Vatican Around Christmas?

A Vatican visit around Christmas is possible, but you need to plan around the closures. The Vatican Museums list 8, 25 and 26 December among their closure days, and 1 and 6 January are closed as well.

The standard opening times are Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the final entry at 6:00 p.m. Visitors must leave the halls 30 minutes before closing. Sundays are closed, except the last Sunday of each month, which has free entry from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with final entry at 12:30 p.m. That last-Sunday rule does not apply when the date falls on 25 December, 26 December or 31 December.

The official page also lists temporary closures for the Sistine Chapel on 4 and 18 December, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the last entrance at 5:30 p.m. That is an easy detail to miss. If you plan a late-afternoon visit in December, book an earlier slot.

Public holidays shape the crowds too. The Vatican public holiday list shows the Immaculate Conception on 8 December, Christmas Day on 25 December and St. Stephen’s Day on 26 December. The public holiday data lists the same days for Italy, so expect a busy Rome around them. Always check the official museum openings and closures calendar before you commit to a date.

Saint Peter’s Basilica keeps longer hours than the museums. The Maps data lists it as open every day from 7 am to 7:10 pm, and one visitor noted that a line was already there at 6:45 am but moved quickly. Hours can change for ceremonies, so check the Basilica’s own site on the day.

Vatican Christmas Concert 2019 Tickets and Christmas Mass: What Is the Difference?

A Christmas concert and a Christmas Mass are different events with different access rules, and I do not want you to mix them up. A concert is a musical program, while a Mass is a religious service, so the way people get in is not the same.

I keep dedicated pages for each. If your real goal is a Mass, start with my guide to Vatican Christmas Mass tickets 2019 for the past-event picture, then read the current-year page on Vatican Christmas Mass tickets. For the evening before Christmas, I explain the situation in Vatican Christmas Eve tickets, and the broader seasonal view is in Vatican tickets for Christmas.

I have not put any claims about how Mass attendance is arranged on this page, because the official pages in my sources do not cover it. The linked guides handle that topic on its own terms, so you get a focused answer instead of a muddle.

Vatican City by the Numbers

Vatican City facts like these show why a visit is compact and easy to plan. These come from Wikidata, and I add what each one means for you as a visitor.

  • Area: 0.44 km². The whole state is tiny, so you can move between St. Peter’s Square and the museum entrance on foot.
  • Inception: 1929-02-11. The modern city-state dates to the Lateran Treaty, so its rules, hours and closures are set by its own authorities, not by Rome.
  • Heritage designation: World Heritage Site. Expect strict security and dress rules at the main sites.
  • Population: 949 in 2024. Very few people live inside the walls, which is why visitor crowds dominate the day.
  • Currency: euro. Official prices are in euros, which is why I converted them above.
  • Head of state: Leo XIV. The Vatican Museums frame the El Greco exhibition as a tribute to him.

Wikipedia also notes that Vatican City is the smallest country by area and the least populous. That fits what you will feel on site: a very small place that gets very full.

Which Tickets Can You Book Instead?

Vatican Museums tickets are the closest real thing you can buy now if you came for Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets. My soft recommendation is to book a skip-the-line entry for a date that suits you, because that is the part of a Vatican trip that sells out and gets expensive when you leave it late.

One traveler on a skip-the-line tour wrote this about waiting without one:

“The only way to visit the Vatican Museums are with a skip the line ticket, because you will spend around 4h in the museum if you want to enjoy it properly, but if you don't have a skip the line ticket, add at least 2-3 hours of waiting in line. A line that is literally at least 100 m long”
Rares, Romania, 2026-10 · GetYourGuide review about Rome: Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel Skip-The-Line Ticket

That is one reviewer’s experience, not a rule, but it matches what I see in the data. The Vatican Museums are among the busiest museums in the world according to the booking listing, and a timed entry removes the biggest unknown.

Here are the options I would look at first. Every one of them covers the Museums and the Sistine Chapel. The lowest-priced listings give you entry only, while the higher-priced one adds a guide.

The first listing offers entry through a dedicated entrance, with an audio guide if you select that option. The second asks you to redeem the ticket at Via Germanico 8 and arrive 15 minutes before your start time. The third, from Inside Out Italy, begins at an office on Via Sebastiano Veniero 74, where a host escorts you to the entrance.

If you prefer a guide, the Gray Line listing is a group tour of up to 20 people that includes the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel.

Not sure which format fits? I put every ticket type side by side on the homepage, so you can compare which Vatican tickets you should book before you pay. For the detailed ticket breakdown, my pillar guide to Vatican Museum tickets covers prices, reductions and entry rules in depth.

Planning Notes if You Wanted a Christmas Visit

Planning a Christmas visit takes more effort than a summer one, so I would work backward from the closures. Pick a date that avoids 8, 25 and 26 December and 1 and 6 January, then choose a morning slot to stay clear of the evening Sistine Chapel closures on 4 and 18 December.

Next, decide what you want to see. The museums are one visit, and Saint Peter’s Basilica is another. Neither listing covers the other, and the tour data says Basilica access is not guaranteed on the museum entry ticket, because crowd control can change it. Keep your plan flexible.

Last, double-check your ticket source. The museum notice is blunt: only the official portal is the official site, and look-alike domains can charge much more. Buy early, keep your confirmation, and bring the voucher to the entrance.

Final Advice on Vatican Christmas Concert 2019 Tickets

Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets can no longer be bought, and I would avoid any listing that claims otherwise. A past event has no entry value, and the official Vatican Museums page itself warns about scams and look-alike sellers.

My practical wrap-up is short. Skip the resale hunt. Use the official museum portal or a clearly labeled tour listing for a date that is still ahead of you. Check the closures for 8, 25 and 26 December. And if music is what you want, follow the Vatican Museums’ own Musica ai Musei announcements on the official site.

Prices and hours change, so confirm everything on the official Vatican Museums site before you go.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still buy Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets?

No. The 2019 concert took place in December 2019, and a ticket for it has no value now. Anyone selling one today is either mistaken or trying to sell you something worthless, so walk away.

Are there Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets on resale sites?

I would not trust any resale listing for a past Vatican event. The official Vatican Museums page warns that look-alike sites can charge much higher prices, and it names tickets.museivaticani.va as the only official site for online museum tickets.

How much were Vatican Christmas concert 2019 tickets?

I can't give a sourced price for the 2019 concert, so I won't guess one. For a price you can plan with today, the Vatican Museums list a full entry ticket at EUR 20.00 without online booking.

Is the Vatican open on Christmas Day?

No. The Vatican Museums list 25 and 26 December among their closure days, and 8 December is closed too. Check the official calendar before you fix your dates.

What is Musica ai Musei at the Vatican Museums?

It is a concert programme run by the Vatican Museums. The museums describe it as their contribution to beauty through an interaction of the arts, and the 2026 season opened after the El Greco exhibition at Castel Gandolfo.

Can I see something Christmas-related at the Vatican without a concert ticket?

Yes. Saint Peter's Basilica is listed as open daily from 7 am to 7:10 pm on Maps data, and the Vatican Museums are open Monday to Saturday. Always confirm hours and closures on the official sites.
